It's a good idea to backup your outlook
email from time to time. Why Should You Back Up? Many
unfortunate things can happen to email files, A hardware
failure or virus could make your drive unreadable. A physical
disaster like fire, flood, software problem could erase
some or all of your email files.
Outlook Express is vulnerable to viruses,
both because it is widely used and because it can automatically
run programs that arrive attached to e-mail messages.
If you back up you email files frequently, a hard drive
disaster is much less of an ordeal. Still, nothing beats
the security of knowing that you have backups of everything.
These Tips will show you how you can backup
your outlook email files on to a disk or CD for safe keeping,
plus more. In Outlook .pst file contains your Outlook
folders, including your Inbox, Calendar, and Contacts.
You can have a single .pst file, usually called Internet
Folders or Personal Folders, in your Folder list. You
may also have an additional .pst file used for archiving

1. Outlook

.PST files at regular intervals, in Outlook 2000 and later
versions, making it easy to keep all of your Outlook folders
safely backed up. You choose which .pst files you wish
to back up and specify how often you want to back them

up your files periodically, making it a giant organizational
tool for those who use Outlook heavily and have lots of

Note Personal Folders Backup
only backs up .PST files. If you have a Microsoft Exchange
Server mailbox, your server mailbox folders are likely
backed up regularly by your server administrator.
2. Download the pfbackup.exe
file and saving the file to your hard drive. Double-click
the pfbackup.exe program file on your hard drive to start
the setup and install.
3. Once you have installed
the Personal Folders Backup, do the following: Start Outlook.
On the File menu, choose Backup. To change the backup
options, such as which .PST files to back up, click Options.
To remove pfbackup.exe use Add/Remove Programs. Backup Outlook email Tip.

9. Hotmail users: If you use Outlook Express to read you hotmail email, you can backup your hotmail email on to your computer. Just open Outlook Express and make a new folder under local folders, you can name it (my Hotmail backup).
