Optimize Performance for your CD/DVD Disk Drives: Web Tech Support: All of these instructions are for Windows 98/ME uses tools called "read-ahead optimization"
and "write-behind caching" to improve the performance
of your hard disk and removable disks. Remember to come

Step by step:
1. Right-click My Computer or TIP (press the
Windows key and the pause/break key on your PC Keyboard).
2. Click Properties and click the Performance
tab then click File System.
3. Click the Hard Disk tab. Drag the "Read-ahead
optimization" slider all the way to the right.
4. Click the CD-ROM tab. Drag the "Supplemental
cache size" slider all the way to the right.
5. Click the down arrow to the right of
"Optimize access pattern," and select "Quad-speed or higher."
6. Click the Removable Disk tab.
7. Click to check the box to the left of
"Enable write-behind caching on all removable disk drives"
if it isn't already checked.
8. Click OK, Click Close. Remember to come
