Shopping Online Web Tips: Web Tech Support!
By: Raymond Garcia - WebTechGeek.com
Shopping Online Tips: Web Tech Support: Here are a few tip to help you become a
better online (Internet) shopper. I have added a few of
my favorite shopping sites
that you can use to check-out and compare products
and prices. Shopping online can save you a lots of money
and time plus most of the newer tech products can be found
online weeks or months before you will see them at your
local merchants. As far as shopping for tech products
I always shop on line first then check-out the product
at my local merchant. I usually find the newer products
on line at a big discount so I usually order tech products
online.
Consumers have doubled the amount of money
they spend online over the past years as ever more people
do routine tasks like grocery shopping and paying bills
over the Internet. Consumers continue to expand their
online buying into new product categories as they become
more comfortable shopping online. Online sales are expected
to reach 6.6 percent of total retail sales in 2004, up
from 5.4 percent in 2003.
Shopping online offers lots of benefits
that you may not find shopping in a store. The Internet
is always open – seven days a week, 24 hours a day
– and bargains can be numerous online. Shopping
on the Internet is no less safe than shopping in a store.
Updated: 6/25/04 I just bought two new computers
and a new 3-in-one printer, on the Internet this month.
All arrived on time and in new working condition and I
save a lot by compression shopping on the Internet. I
spend a lot of money every year on computer equipment
and accessories on the Intranet with no problems.
Over the weekend I did little window shopping
at Fry's, that's a big electronic supper store in California.
I bought a new hard drive on sale and two memory stick
for my new Pc. The line to pay was long, it seemed like
I waited in line for hours before I paid for my merchandise
so I could leave. As I waited in line I thought to myself,
If I had order this over the Internet, I wouldn't have
to waite in this long line.
To top it all off, one of the memory sticks
was bad. So I had to go back to Fry's and waite in the
return line that was twice as long as the check out line.
Fry's refused to exchange or refund the memory stick that
I bought there a few day's before, so I went home tired.
Will That's the last time Fry's will seen me shopping
at their stores and, I do spend a lot of money on computers
and a electronics. My advice, shopping on line will save
you time, money, and headaches!
Shopping Online Web Tips:
1. Compare prices online:
Instead of running around town hunting for bargains, use
your computer to compare prices and products before you
buy. You may be able to get the best price by purchasing
online--but watch out for shopping and handing charges
that can ruin your bargain. You may get changed sales
tax by some merchants and not by others. Some merchants
charge more for shipping and handing then others, so watch
out.
2. Shopping Online for
local attractions can be another big savings place for
you. Many of your local attractions now have ticket sales
available online. Disney and Six Flags have sales going
on with online tickets. If you buy online, your gonna
save some big Bucks. Depending on where your going this
summer, you can find some impressive discounts online.
3. Use a secure browser.
This is the software you use to navigate the Internet.
Your browser should comply with industry security standards,
such as Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). These standards scramble
the purchase information you send over the Internet, helping
to secure your transaction.
4. Shop with merchants
you know. Anyone can set up a shop online under almost
any name. If you’re not familiar with a merchant.
Determine the merchant refund and return policies before
you place your order, also is there is a restocking fee.
These should be posted on the company’s Web site,
also Look for an online privacy policy.
5. Read the customer comments
and ratings on the merchants before you order from your
merchant. If one merchant charges a little more money
and has 200 good ratings on service and another merchant
has five good ratings on service and has a lower price,
you safer ordering from the merchant with 200 good rating.
6. Pay by credit or charge
card. If you pay by credit or charge card online, your
transaction will be protected by the Fair Credit Billing
Act. Under this law, you have the right to dispute charges
under certain circumstances and temporarily withhold payment
while the creditor is investigating them. In the event
of unauthorized use of your credit or charge card, you
generally would be held liable only for the first $50
in charges.
Some companies offer an online shopping
guarantee that ensures you will not be held responsible
for any unauthorized charges made online, and some cards
may provide additional warranty, return and/or purchase
protection benefits.
