The
Pocket DV 3100 Price $129./ $80. The Pocket
DV looks expensive, but it's not the Pocket DV is
a fun cheap digital camera. The pocket DV looks a
lot like the more expensive camcorder used for video
recording but it's not a camcorder. You can take 2.5
Min's of AVI video, 15 still pictures at (2040 x 1536)
and 20 still pictures at (1600 x 1200) with the Pocket
DV 16MB of internal memory. Set focus has only two
settings zoom in/ zoom out, that is you turn the lens
to landscape or close-ups.
The Pocket DV is small, light weigh
and made of plastic, it looks expensive, but has that
made of plastic feeling. The Pocket DV takes good
looking pictures, it has 3.1 Megapixels hardware resolution,
you can take 15 pictures at (2048 x 1536) 20 pictures
at (1600 x 1200) and 2 min's of AVI video using 16MB
internal memory.
The
Pocket DV has a cool looking color LCD display (1.5
TFT display), cool, but small. You can turn the LCD
display off to save power and uses 2 AA alkaline batteries
for power. There's a small view finder above the LCD
display that is totally useless. The Picket DV will
power on when you open the LCD panel, there's a small
menu on the LCD you use the up down button to pick
options on the menu.
The memory: You can buy more memory
for the Pocket DV (16MB internal memory). The Pocket
DV uses CF card (Compact Flash Card) memory cards
and you can buy them in sizes of 32MB, 64MB, 128MB,
256MB, 512MB. The AVI video records at QVGA 320 x
240 pixels, up to 10fps, so not a good camcorder but,
good for fun. You get 30~50 minutes with 128 MB CF
card, 50~70 minutes with 256 MB CF card, and a estimated
80~120 Minutes with 512 MB CF card.
Voice Record: The Pocket DV has 1 hour
of voice recording with built-in memory. Video Conferencing
at VGA 640 x 480 pixels, up to 10fps, 24fps at 320
x 240.
Pros: Fun, cheap (only
$129./ ($80. if you search on the Web), cool, good
for taking pictures and short videos. Uses 2 AA batteries.
You can use to video conference on your PC. Good 3.1
Megapixels digital pictures.
Cons: No flash, only
16MB of internal memory, you get only 2 Min's of videos
you need to buy more memory for more video.
