Save Time - Boot up without the floppy drive!
By Raymond, WebTechGeek.com

You can shorten your startup time, even if by a little bit. Tell Windows Me not to search for your floppy drive when it starts up. You'll still be able to use the floppy drive, but Windows Me will search for it only when you click the floppy drive icon in My Computer or in Windows Explorer.

Here's how you do it:

Right-click My Computer, click the Properties button, and then click the Performance tab.
Click the File System button and then click the Floppy Disk tab.
Clear the option to Search for new floppy disk drives each time your computer starts.

Add New Hardware Problems:
By Raymond, WebTechGeek.com

You can let the Hardware Wizard resolve your device problems! If you're having problems with a particular Hardware device after installing Windows Me, 98 or other software, you can try removing it and then let Windows Me, 98 reinstall the device.

Here's how you do it:

Click on Start button, go to Settings, go to Control Panel, and then click on the System icon.
Now click the Device Manager tab. The problem category should automatically open within the list. A symbol should indicate the faulty hardware device. If a hardware device is not working properly, there will be a "yellow circle with a black exclamation point inside it" if the hardware device isn't"t working at all, there will be a red X.

Click on the problem item to highlight it, and then click Remove. Restart your computer!
During start up, Windows Me should detect as missing the device you just removed and will automatically run the Add New Hardware Wizard. If you have new drivers from any of your hardware manufacturers on disk, be sure to use the wizard's Have Disk option to ensure that Windows Me installs the latest drivers and not any old ones.

Tip: If you download new drivers from hardware manufacturers, copy them to a floppy disk and label the disk. This way, if you ever need to reinstall them, and don't have access to the Internet. They are right on your floppy disk. Related see Computer help page #2 here!

You can Undo actions in Windows:
By Raymond, WebTechGeek.com

Have you ever accidentally deleted, renamed, moved, or copied a file you didn't intend to? Windows Me has an Undo command in every window, and it works just like the Undo command in other Microsoft applications. If you're viewing a window (for example, a Windows Explorer window) in Web view, just click Undo on the toolbar. If you're not using Web view, click Undo on the Edit menu.

You Can Add Custom Graphics in the Windows Properties Display:
By Raymond, WebTechGeek.com

The system properties of any computer often include a logo or graphic from the manufacturer. Thanks to a cool little utility called OEM Logo Changer 1.3b, you can replace that graphic. This program seems to work well on all Windows 9x installations, Note not tested on NT or 2000. Your replacement graphic must be a bitmap image with a maximum size of 180 x 114 pixels. Download OEM Logo Changer 1.3b, Get it here!

How to start your computer without starting Windows:
By Raymond, WebTechGeek.com -

* Click Start, and then click Shut down.
* Click Restart, click OK, and then press and hold the F8 key until the Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition * Startup Menu appears. Note: for some computers, you can need to use CTRL instead of F8 to bring up the Microsoft Windows ME Startup Menu.

You can do one of the following:

* If you want to load Windows as usual, press the number key that corresponds to Normal, and then press ENTER.
* If you want to create a file listing your computer's boot and load activity, press the number key that corresponds to Logged, and then press ENTER. Windows loads as usual and writes the activity to the C:\Bootlog.txt file.
* If you want to load Windows using minimum drivers and basic options, press the number key that corresponds to Safe mode, and then press ENTER. Use this option if you have difficulties with hardware and other issues in Windows. In Safe mode, you can diagnose and fix errors.
* If you want to step through each activity in the Windows load sequence, allowing or disallowing an activity as you choose, press the number key that corresponds to Step-by-step confirmation, and then press ENTER.
