How to create a startup or "boot" disk for your computer:

Here's how to make a startup or boot disk, it is necessary not only to start your computer when it can't start on its own, but it also allows you to run diagnostic programs to see what is causing the problem, and apply a fix. To create a boot disk, you will need a blank, 1.2 MB disk (any files on a disk you use will be erased by this procedure).

Here's how to create a startup disk:

Go to your start button and click Start.
Point to Settings and then click Control Panel.
Click Add/Remove Programs.
Click the Startup Disk tab.
Click the Create Disk button.
When finished, click OK to exit the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box.
Note Whether or not you insert a disk before you start this procedure, you will receive an Insert Disk prompt. Insert a disk if you have not done so already, and then click OK to continue.

Windows Tip: By Raymond, WebTechGeek.com - Question: How do I increase the number of registry save slots I can do for backups. Right now it's at the standard 5. I want to increase this to maybe 30 just in case... So I have a month backup of it.... Any ideas on doing this?

Microsoft Windows NT domain password: in Windows Millennium Edition, Windows 98, and Windows 95. To cache your Windows NT domain password in Windows Me/98/95, follow these steps: In Control Panel, double-click the Passwords icon, and then click Change Windows Password. If any check boxes in the Change Windows Password dialog box are selected, click them to clear them, and then click OK. In the Old Password box, type your current Windows password. Leave the New Password and Confirm New Password boxes empty, and then click OK. Click Close. In Control Panel, double-click the Network icon. Make sure that the Client for Microsoft Networks is installed. Double-click Client For Microsoft Networks, click the "Log on to Windows NT domain" check box to select it, and then click OK. In the Primary Network Logon box, click Windows Logon, and then click OK. When you are prompted to restart your computer, click Yes. In the Enter Network Password dialog box, type your Windows NT domain password in the Password box, click the "Save this password in your password list" check box to select it, and then click OK. The next time you start your computer, you will not be prompted for a password and you will be logged in to the Windows NT domain automatically. As long as your Windows and Windows NT domain passwords are different, and Windows Logon remains your primary network logon, you will not be prompted for either password. NOTE: The method described in this article does not work if system policies and user profiles are enabled, and password caching has been disabled. By WebTechGeek.com.
